Artillery Sculpture GroupIn April 1882 the Artillery Group was placed on the northwest side of the Lincoln Tomb. A gift from the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, it depicts a scene which sculptor Larkin Mead witnessed on the battlefield near Yorktown, Virginia, early in the Civil War.Enemy fire has dismounted the gun, but the officer in charge escapes unhurt.
