Dedicated on January 22, 1912, the memorial consists of a low, semi-circular expanse of
white marble with this bronze bust in the middle. William Saunders, who designed the
cemetery in 1863, allowed space for a memorial like this. Bronze tablets flank the bust by Henry
Bush-Brown. The Gettysburg Address appears on one side and David Wills' invitation to

On one end of the National Cemetery, you can see
a memorial to President Abraham Lincoln and his Gettysburg Address. Sometimes visitors
mistake this for the original location of the speech platform.
