Sculptor Leonard Crunelle portrayed Abraham Lincoln as he may have looked
while Captain of a company of soldiers during the Black Hawk War of 1832. Crunelle
was born in France in 1872 and became a student of sculptor Lorado Taft in Chicago. He
also created the "Lincoln the Debater" statue in Freeport, Illinois.
